Sheila and Fred
My first experiences of dementia were caring for my Grandad, Fred, who had dementia for almost 10 years. It was of upmost importance to him to remain living at home, so with my Mum, Sheila, and sister’s support, we were able to grant him his wish.
I, in particular, found looking after my Grandad a most rewarding and fulfilling experience, so much so that I decided to pursue a career within dementia care to help others like him.
Sadly, in October 2014, my Grandad passed away at the grand old age of 97, and tragically, in May 2014, my Mum died very unexpectedly at the age of 78.
My Mum and Grandad were very influential people in my life, and I miss them both every day. I dedicate Safe Haven Dementia Centre to their memory, as they are the inspiration behind my centre.
Gone, but not forgotten.
Pauline.
